VT GOP Fundraiser Features “One of the Most Corrupt Members of Congress”
Montpelier, VT-  The Vermont Republican Party announced yesterday that it will be featuring freshman Congressman Frank Guinta, one of the most corrupt members of Congress, as its special guest at the GOP fall fundraiser.  This week, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (a non-partisan watchdog group) added Guinta to its list of most corrupt Members for his egregious interpretation of campaign finance laws during the election of 2010 (http://www.crewsmostcorrupt.org/mostcorrupt). “Congressman Guinta flagrantly violated campaign finance law in the last election.  The Vermont Republican Party should be repudiating Guinta and his behavior, not honoring him with an invitation to speak at a fundraising event,” said Vermont Democratic Party Chair Jake Perkinson. “The Republican Party has consistently illustrated that it is completely out of touch with Vermont voters.  Earlier this year, the Vermont Republicans invited RNC Chair Reince Preibus as their guest, a man who won the chairmanship after engineering Governor Scott Walker’s dismantling of union protections in Wisconsin.  Mr. Priebus and Congressman Guinta do not reflect the values of Vermonters-- by lauding these men, Vermont Republicans demonstrate that they intend to lead Vermont down the disastrous trail blazed by their national counterparts.”###
