VERMONT DEMOCRATIC PARTY URGES PURPORTED “NON-PARTISAN” BRUCE LISMAN AND “CAMPAIGN” FOR VERMONT TO STOP SUBSIDIZING LIMBAUGH’S OFFENSIVE RANTS

Montpelier, Vt. -- In the weeks since GOP talk-show champion, Rush Limbaugh, issued his now famous demeaning and despicable remarks about a young woman’s testimony before Congress in support of full medical coverage for women there has been a strong and unified reaction from the advertisers that make the Limbaugh show possible.  Since March 1, a great number of advertisers on the national and local level have withdrawn their support in response to Limbaugh’s hateful tirade charging that a woman’s advocacy for full medical coverage makes her a “prostitute” and a “slut.”    Consequently many companies and organizations no longer advertise on his program.

The list of companies that officially announced on Twitter, Facebook or in statements to other media outlets that they would stop advertising on the radio show include: AccuQuote Life Insurance, Allstate Insurance, American Heart Association, AOL, Aquarium of the Pacific, Bare Escentuals, Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Bonobos, Capital One, Carbonite, Cascades Dental, Citrix, Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Constant Contact, Cunningham Security, Freedom Debt Relief, Geico, Girl Scouts, Goodwill Industries, Hadeed Carpet, JCPenney, Legal Zoom, Matrix Direct, Netflix, New York Lottery, Norway Savings Bank, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Philadelphia Orchestra, PolyCom, Portland Ovations, ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, Regal Assets, Reputation Rhino, RSVP Discount Beverage, Sears, Sensa, Service Magic, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Tax Resolution, Thompson Creek Windows, TurboTax and Vitacost. However, there is a notable exception to this movement in Vermont:  Bruce Lisman and his personal vanity project, “Campaign for Vermont.”  While Mr. Lisman continues to clumsily deny he or has one-man “Campaign” have any political motivations, every action and statement he makes clearly demonstrates his commitment to the GOP agenda and its political strategy of dividing, instead of uniting, Americans.

“The fact is that withdrawing support from Limbaugh’s hateful speech is a simple expression of human decency and a rejection of the divisive politics which has become the default for the GOP and its surrogates, including Mr. Lisman” said Vermont Democratic State Party Chairman, Jake Perkinson.  “In contrast, the decision to continue to support Mr. Limbaugh’s agenda can be seen as nothing other than a purely political move designed to support Mr. Lisman’s true partisan leanings.  I call on Mr. Lisman to reject his embrace of the hateful agenda propagated by Rush Limbaugh and withdraw his financial support.”
