Only candidates to receive the 15% minimum required to be awarded delegates.

APRIL 15

In lieu of town caucuses, April 15 was the deadline for VT Democrats to sign up to become delegates to the state convention. Just under 500 people successfully signed up, a larger number than attended the 2016 state convention.

MAY 15

Deadline for candidates to file for the 11 “District-Level” (Congressional District) delegate positions. (8 pledged to Sanders, 3 pledged to Biden). Also, deadline for candidates to file for the positions of Democratic National Committeeman and Committeewoman.

MAY 25 – MAY 30 (1:00 PM)

Voting period for 11 “District-Level” delegates and DNC members. Sanders supporters will elect 8 Sanders delegates, Biden supporters will elect 3 Biden delegates. State Convention delegates will receive a link to cast an electronic ballot, which must be submitted no later than 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th.

(In the elections for National Committeewoman and Committeeman, if no candidate receives at least 40% of the vote, there will be a run-off election between the top two candidates the following week -- all State Convention delegates will receive an additional ballot via email if this is required)

JUNE 4

Deadline (5:00 PM) to file (vtdemocrats.org/importantforms) for “Pledged Party Leader/Elected Official” (PLEO) and “At-Large” delegates. The two (2) PLEO delegates will be split equally between Sanders and Biden. The three (3) At-Large will be split two for Sanders and one for Biden.

JUNE 13

District-Level delegates (elected on May 30th) hold a meeting to select the 2 PLEO and 3 At-Large delegates (based on recommendations from the Presidential campaigns). The two (2) Alternates will be divided equally between Sanders and Biden. Unsuccessful candidates for PLEO and At-Large delegates will be automatically considered for “Alternate” positions.

These positions may be used to help meet the party’s gender-parity and affirmative action goals.

The full delegation will select the Delegation Chair and the members of the Rules, Credentials, and Platform Committees.
