VDP Statement on VTGOP’s Re-Election of Chair Deb Billado
November 2, 2019
MONTPELIER, VT — Following the Vermont Republican Party’s re-election of their Chair, Deb Billado, Vermont Democratic Party spokesperson, R. Christopher Di Mezzo, released the following statement:
“During Deb Billado’s tenure as Chair of the Vermont Republican Party, her organization has seen historic losses in the Vermont House and Senate, a growing division between the Party’s base and their GOP Governor, and a staggering lack of both financial resources and staff.
“Yet, despite these very public failures, the Vermont Republican Party, in their infinite wisdom, has enthusiastically voted to re-elect Billado to a second term.
“Billado is a fervent supporter of President Trump and her re-election as Chair makes clear that Vermont Republicans stand firmly behind the soon-to-be-impeached President of the United States and his politics of fear and hate.
“Billado’s re-election is a clear sign that Governor Phil Scott, who actively tried to push Billado out of his Party’s top job, seems to have little-to-no influence over his Party, its direction, and its message.”
