House, Peter Welch votes to Formalize Impeachment Inquiry

October 31, 2019

MONTPELIER, VT — Today the United States House of Representatives voted to formalize an impeachment inquiry into the President of the United States.

Vermont Democratic Party spokesperson, R. Christopher Di Mezzo, released the following statement:

“Today, the United States House of Representatives took a stand against the obvious and egregious abuse of power by President Donald Trump. Today’s vote sends a clear message that extorting a foreign government for domestic political gains is un-American, unpatriotic, and in clear violation of the Constitution.

“A vote against today’s resolution to formalize the impeachment inquiry also sends a clear message: The President is above the law.

“We are especially grateful today to be represented by Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT), whose steadfast leadership and support for an impeachment inquiry has provided the House with guidance and moral clarity during this trying time for our nation.”
