VDP Calls on Phil Scott to Release Blind Trust Details Before August 9th

August 5, 2016

Burlington, VT  The Vermont Democratic Party was pleased to hear Phil Scott provide more details to VTDigger on his plan to establish a “blind trust” and firewall between the governor’s office and DuBois Construction if elected. But it seems like he only believes the press is worthy of hearing the details about that plan.

Phil Scott told reporters on August 3rd that he will only release his plan after the August 9th primary. A primary in which he does have a challenger.

Today, the VDP called on him to release his plans to voters before they go to the polls.

“Voters deserve to know what a candidate plans to do before they head to the polls,” said VDP Executive Director, Conor Casey. “For Phil Scott to withhold this information from voters who are facing a decision on August 9th is disrespectful to Vermonters he is hoping to represent. If he is confident in his plan to combat the conflict of interest he would face if elected, he should be willing to share before his primary.”
