Vermont Democratic Party Statement: First Day of the 2020 Legislative Session
January 7, 2020

MONTPELIER, VT — Today, January 7, marks the first day of the 2020 legislative session. Vermont Democratic Party spokesperson, R. Christopher Di Mezzo, released the following statement:
"Today, House and Senate Democrats from across the state flooded the State House with one goal in mind: building a better future for all Vermonters. From fighting to establish a paid leave program, raising the minimum wage, and combating the climate crisis, Democrats are working to make the lives of all Vermonters better.
“What was clear in 2019 and remains clear in 2020 is Governor Phil Scott’s resistance to progress — his refusal to engage with the issues and his refusal to take any steps toward bettering the lives of the people who elected him.
“2020 will be a great year for Democratic policies and Democratic candidates.”
