VDP Hires New Executive Director

We are pleased to announce today that the Vermont Democratic Party has hired a new executive director, Scott McNeil.

Scott is no stranger to the complicated nature of a state party, having led the North Dakota Democratic Party since July of 2017.  Before moving to North Dakota, Scott successfully managed Suzanne Bump’s campaign for Massachusetts State Auditor and then served in her office as an external affairs assistant.  In edition to managing a statewide campaign, he has also worked on multiple congressional races around the country, serving in the roles of Regional Field Director and Field Director. Scott is a Cum Laude graduate of George Washington University with a Bachelors in Political Science.

Having grown up in New England, Scott is eager to return home and focus his attention on building a strong state party right here in Vermont. “I’m so excited to roll my sleeves up and get to work — we have much to do and I’m thrilled to jump right in,” McNeil said.  “My priorities are simple: Get the party on track to win victories in 2020 and beyond.”

Scott is replacing Josh Massey who resigned from his post with the Vermont Democrats in April. Scott's first day on the job will be September 3, 2019.  Any requests for comment from Scott or the Party should be, as always, directed to the R. Christopher Di Mezzo, director of communications and outreach.
